Africa
A tour of African fauna, flora, landscapes,
and culture
Pictures and text from my sojourns
in various African countries in 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2002
The purpose of this compilation is to present the species I have encountered on my trips to Africa so far by means of pictures and introdutory text for use of reference both for ourselves and those interested in the subjects concerned. Even though the quality of the pictures varies to some extent, the less successful ones still give the viewer an idea of the species concerned. The photos were scanned on a flatbed scanner from paper prints, resulting in variation in reproduction quality.
The most recent pictures are from my trip to Namibia in the summer of 2002. They were scanned from Fuji Velvia or Provia 100F or 400F slides on a Minolta Scan Dual III. Thus their quality is in some cases noticeably better than that of the earlier prints. Many of the pages will be revamped in the next few weeks, with many new species and also new photos replacing older ones. The updating of this year's photos will take some time, but I will try and do it on a more regular basis.
Stay tuned for pictures from our honeymoon in Gabon this summer!
