Whitefaced owl
Length 25-28 cm, wingspan 67 cm
Bigger than the Scops Owl, it is also distinguishable by its white facial disc.
Both have conspicuous eartufts
Its call is a fast, hooting "doo-doo-doo-doo-hohoo"
It occurs in thornveld and dry broad-leafed woodland, either singly or in pairs.
It is less common and more thinly distributed in Namibia than is the African Scops Owl, but is generally less well concealed than that species.
