Welwitschia mirabilis

These plants can justifiably be considered living fossils: some of them can be as old as 2000 years.Found only in a limited area of southern Angola and western Namibia.

They are actually trees: what you see are the roots seeking moisture from the air, and the saucer-shaped crown is its trunk that digs into the ground. There are even male and female and female trees. It only has two leaves that become a tangled mass falling in all directions.
