About Acraea acrita

Wingspan 5½ - 6½ cm,

male bright vermilion red with a small black apical tip, a few scattered black spots and a red-spotted black hindwing margin

female variable, form orange-red to grayish-brown.

A variable species as to extent and size of black markings.

Range and habitat

An open country, bush and savannah species found in Kenya and Tanzania, south to Mozambique and Zimbabwe, west to the southern Congo and Angola.

Flies throughout the year.
