Euphaedra imitans

Photographed in the rainforest of Kibale National park, Uganda,  June ´98.

So far it has been identified as E.imitans by three people. The case for E.imitans (Holland 1893) seems to be strong: "probably male, but the wingshape is not clearly visible". Cf. "Euphaedra" (J.Hecq 1997) (One reply stated that it was Euphaedra eusemoides but this was refuted by another contributor "not the pattern nor the distribution, eusemoides is from occidental Africa".)

Therefore, the case seems to be closed, and the butterfly appears to be E.imitans

I wish to thank all those who contributed their views.

Take Care,

Marko
