Papilio nireus, female
This large (wingspan estimate 10 cm) butterfly rested for a while on a coffee plant leaf. Three replies confirmed it as female Papilio nireus, and it certainly looks like one, even though the blue band is very pale.Papilio nireus is one of the blue-banded papilios and very common in forests, woodland and gardens throughout most of Africa; several subspecies with West African ones larger equipped with broader blue bands while Ethiopian specimens are smaller with extremely reduced blue bands.
