Privet Hawkmoth

Larva

ML-03

Found in my garden in Kerava, Finland, on Syringa Ungaris, August 2003

Even though the Privet Hawkmoth is a fairly rare and scarce species throughout its range in southern Finland, the larvae, which feed on Spiraea and Syringa, are often conspicuously more numerous. The pupa overwinters.
